MEEKER I Bob Marley once said, “You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice.”
Meeker native Molly Turner has lived this sentiment firsthand.
After losing her 7-year-old son, Angelo Theos, in a tragic accident in 2013, Turner has published a book to honor his memory and highlight the courage of her older son, incoming Meeker High School senior Sheridan Harvey, as they navigate the grieving process together.
Turner’s sons, her “very greatest gifts,” inspired her to write and publish the book.
“I wanted my Angelo to be remembered and I wanted my Sheridan to be recognized,” she said.
The book also serves as a testament to Turner’s own resiliency in the face of unfathomable pain.
“My heart will never be the same, but with effort I am now able to feel, really feel, all that is beautiful in this life,” states the book’s synopsis.
“Honoring Angelo: Sheridan’s Strength” encourages open communication about loss and the complicated feelings that go with it.
Although anyone is welcome to read it, Turner says the book was written primarily for children.
“I watched my nieces and nephews read it,” she said. “Some of them cried and some of them smiled, and they all said that they liked it. The experience made my heart happy.”
The book hit Amazon’s bestseller list in the grief and bereavement category when it was released, due in part to overwhelming support from the community.
“We feel blessed to call Meeker our home,” Turner said. “It is such a kind community,” she added.
“Honoring Angelo: Sheridan’s Strength” can be purchased from Amazon, Barnes & Noble and any online bookstore.
