• Patty Johnson was selected as rodeo queen following judging at the fairgrounds.
• Granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Ridings, Barbara Beaird, will play the part of Teenie, the little girl who teases Fibber McGee and Molly in the television series. Her most “fun” role was that of an equestrian in Walt Disney’s “Toby Tyler” about circus life.

The Meeker Herald — 25 years ago
• Community spirit was alive and well as almost 85 people took the time to help Bud and Sally Norell clean up their residence which was hit by flood waters several weeks ago.

• Meeker’s new Sulphur Creek ballfield took on a new look as the lights went up while the sod, all 63,000 square feet of it, went down.
• Happy birthday to Donny Winkler, who turned 1-year-old June 23, 1984.
