Events hosted at monument

DINOSAUR — The Dinosaur Monument has a host of programs for kids and families. The programs include:
n Fossil Discovery Hike: A one-mile hike to explore three of the fossil-bearing layers of the quarry area. Fossilized fish scales, clams and dinosaur bones are just a few of the attractions along this trail. Please bring enough drinking water for everyone in your group.
This hike leaves from the Temporary Visitor Center. (1 1/2 hour)
n Patio Talk: Join a park ranger to learn about different aspects of Dinosaur National Monument’s varied landscape. Topics include dinosaurs, fossils, geology, natural history, and cultural history. These 15-20 minute programs are featured on the patio of the Temporary Visitor Center. (15 minutes)
n Shuttle Tour: Discover the cultural past of the area along Cub Creek Road. Evidence of humans living along the Yampa and Green Rivers goes back more than 10,000 years. Sunscreen, hat and water are recommended. (1-1/2 hours) Note: This route is open for self-guided auto touring. Guides are available at the bookstore.
n Kids’ Program: Interpreters bring the past to life through activities for children 6 to 12 years old. (30 minutes)
