MEEKER | With only four games left the regular season play, the lady Cowboys remain undefeated after last weekend’s match against the Plateau Valley Bulldogs. Commenting on last weekend’s play, head coach Greg Cravens said, “This weekend was another great weekend, 3 sets to 0 vs. Plateau Valley.” Sitting number two in the rankings, with a 15-0 record, the lady Cowboys trail Yuma whose record is 15-1.
“We didn’t have our best night at the serve line with 11 errors and only eight aces,” continued Cravens, “But did very well at the net hitting 33 kills with a .329 hitting efficiency.” Passing was an area of focus in practice at the beginning of the season. Improvements have been made and Cravens noted that “we passed well which is why our offense did so well last weekend.”
Its homecoming week in Meeker, “always a very exciting week,” said Cravens. A lot of activities going on at the school this week; including volleyball at Grand Valley on Thursday and Paonia at home on Friday. Cravens ended with discussion on Friday’s game, “That will be a great league match; we are anticipating Paonia’s best so we need to be ready.” Paonia at Meeker volleyball will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, up first, C team followed by JV and Varsity.
