– Work on the Meeker-Rifle road has been held up by the national government authorities owing to the difficulty of securing metal and cement for bridges and culverts.

– When the Ute Monument at the Thornburgh site is dedicated today, it will not only make the annals of history but will also be a part of a film production by the Discovery Channel and Denver television station KUSA.
– Meeker having its own natural gas utility was one possibility mentioned to the Rio Blanco County Commissioners Monday, as Chuck Whiteman expressed his concerns regarding Greeley Gas Company’s proposed 12 percent rate hike to its natural gas customers.

– Final touches of remodeling jobs at the Rangely schools were completed Saturday, Oct. 12, by Bill Tidwell, local building contractor.
– The Panthers have now won two in a row and will be looking for a third victory against Meeker Friday night in a non-conference tilt. Sophomore quarterback Kevin Poole has averaged over 100 yards per game since taking over for the injured Paul Pilcher and may well be one of the top quarterbacks in RHS history by the time he is a senior.

– Approximately two weeks ago three cattle were found dead at Minford Beard’s place on Cathedral Bluffs and County Road 103. Senior Deputy Sheriff Dave Raley told the Times that the case was still under investigation and according to Raley, the cattle are valued at $850 to $1,000 each.
