It is no wonder that Miss Anderson looks sad. Every girl in the sewing class has a pair of scissors and they cut up continually. One of the students announced that Mr. B was building a most wonderful condition to his house so that his wife might be able to entertain in a more hostile manner.

Gary Coulter, owner-manager of the Meeker Airport, last week was re-elected president at a two-day meeting of the Colorado Aerial Dusters and Sprayers Association.

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Robinson announced this week they have taken over ownership of the Montgomery Ward Catalog store in Meeker, at 640 Main. Mrs. Marba Ainge will continue to manage the store for the Robinsons.

Snowmobiling has opened up vast areas of previously inaccessible terrain to sports minded devotees. Sunday morning, 13 snowmobile enthusiasts on 12 machines, joined together on an all-day trip which took them into areas that have not been touched in the winter before the advent of the snowmachine.

Coach Tammy VanOort’s girls earned their third consecutive trip to Colorado’s big-time hoops event with an exciting 72-97 win Saturday evening over the visiting Machebeuf Buffaloes, who were the No. 3 seed from Denver Christian and Lutheran High. After a near miss in her first year at the helm of the the girls program with 1992’s second place state finish, Van Oort’s club was bounced out of the tourney by Denver Christian in the opening round last year, and would certainly like to come back in ’94 to pick up the school’s first-ever basketball title. “I hope the third time’s a charm,” admitted the Cowgirls’ coach, “but we’ll have to play some ball if it is.”

The Four Seasons Flower Shop will be closed on March 15 while it is being moved to a new location on Main Street.

Mrs. Shirl Kump has just won the highest honor Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority can bestow on a new member—the First Pearl Award. A member of Theta Zeta chapter, Jean earned her award by completing a difficult series of achievements for her chapter. She received the award in a special ceremony Feb. 24 at the Snak Bar. Mrs. Russ Hubble has achieved a high honor from her Sorority also—First Degree of Pallas Athene. She has earned this award by outstanding contribution to the growth, progress and community service of her chapter.

The Rangely Times — 25 years ago

The large BT-13 plane belonging to Mr. Norman was in need of air in the tires and the shock absorbers before taking off from the local town airport last Saturday afternoon. Thinking nothing about it, Norman climbed into his plane and taxied it across the Main Street (about 100 feet) to one of the local filling stations and serviced the ship completely. Crossing back over the street, he was up and on his way in a jiffy.
