What are those extra lines on Market Street in Meeker? They’re bike lanes and parking lanes. According to the Meeker Chamber, the re-striping project is the first step in a plan to improve the safety of Market Street for all. The re-striping project was accomplished through the Colorado Main Street program and the local Main Street group, Meeker: Project 45, with guidance from Community Builders. Intended to calm traffic speeds by visually narrowing the width of the driving lanes, promote parking for local businesses, and improve safety for pedestrians. Painted bike symbols will be added to the lanes soon.
