Meeker High School senior Nick Massey shared his firsthand experience with the grief counseling provided by HopeWest last Saturday at the Fairfield Center. After losing his grandfather, Massey began attending a grief group for young people as a seventh grader. When he lost his older brother and only sibling Jake in a tragic hiking accident just a few months later, the resources available through HopeWest became even more valuable for Massey. “They give you tools for coping,” he said. HopeWest’s services in Meeker, which are provided through volunteers, include hospice, palliative care and grief support for all ages. The annual gala is a fundraiser to support the group’s activities throughout the year. Learn more about the organization at www.HopewestCO.org
