New math teacher at MHS

Clea Steerman is teaching high school math and is an assistant volleyball team coach at MHS.

MEEKER | The Meeker School District would like to welcome Clea Steerman to the staff. Clea Steerman transferred to the area in early July from Lamar, Colorado, where she taught high school and junior math and science at McClave School. She is married to Don Steerman, a Meeker High School graduate, and they have three children: James and Jeanete, 20, and Becca, 17. She is teaching high school math. She is also an assistant coach on the volleyball team.

Students Porter Hossack,  states, “Starting on the first day of school, walking into Mrs. Steerman’s class (geometry) I already knew that she was going to have an impact on my education, as well as my personal life. Going through the year, Mrs. Steerman and I have made a bond that I have not made with any other teacher. One of the greatest attributes that she has is, she doesn’t just come to school to do her job, she comes to make an impact on the lives of each and every one of her students.”

Steerman also loves being in the community of Meeker. “The first thing I noticed was how respectful the students were.  Every single day, I have numerous students tell me, ‘Thank you for teaching me.’ Another thing I’ve seen is how invested the students are in their own education. They truly want to learn and to make themselves better. I love teaching at Meeker High School, I love the students and have truly been blessed by being in the same classroom as they are.  The atmosphere among the high school staff is very positive and they have made me and my family feel so welcome.  I quickly saw how supportive the administration and community are towards Meeker Schools and I am so thankful to call myself a Meeker Cowboy,” Steerman said.

Steerman has already jumped head first into the youth activities in Meeker. She is a friendly face that people look forward to seeing. Steerman coached the C volleyball team and helped the girls develop skills and have a successful season. They are currently 9-2.
