MEEKER I The Meeker Marlins USA Swim Team had six members qualify for the Colorado Scottie Aschermann Seasonal State Championship Swim Meet in Lamar last weekend.
These swimmers were successful individually and as a team. The Meeker Marlins won the “Small Team” division and trophy by scoring a total of 455 points. The boys 11-12 200 Medley Relay broke the state record (set in 2000) by swimming a time of 2:14.29. All swimmers had personal best times in all of their races (with the exception of one) and three swimmers won individual state championships in their age group of approximately 30 swimmers: Tucker Chinn, Said Rodriguez and Fletcher Chinn.
Marlins’ coach Shelly Rogers was elected Colorado Coach of the Year by the other coaches.
