MEEKER I The Meeker High School cross country team participated in Delta’s Pantherfest meet this past Friday. Known for being a fast course, this year did not disappoint, with nearly all of our team posting their best time this season, and quite a few with new personal records. Brighton Bair was one of those, finishing the girls varsity race in 27th place with a new PR of 21:10. This was more than one minute faster than on this same course last year. The boys varsity race had Eddie Drussell as Meeker’s first to the finish line with a PR of 19:35 for 59th place, more than 1:30 better that his previous best time. Gabe Richardson was two places behind Drussell, with a season-best of 19:43. Gabe Smithers was close behind, a new PR of 19:55, and 64th place. A new PR of 20:50 for Wyatt Rollins at 85th and Gage Richardson finished in 103rd place at 21:42. The boys placed 14th in team scoring.
Callie Stout was Meeker’s only JV runner, and finished the girls race with another PR this week of 28:25, fully 3:21 better than her previous best. She finished in 37th place in her race.
“We had some great racing among really good competition in Delta, and just what we need at this point in the season,” said head coach Marty Casey.
