Lady Panthers split volleyball sets; JV improves record

RANGELY I The Panthers played West Grand at home on Oct. 15. The JV team won in three sets. The first set was a close loss, 22-25. The second set was won 26-24 and the third set was 15-12. Lexi LeBleu led the team kills with seven and Miah Wren was close behind with six, Emmeree Wagner had five and Mackenzie Manchester had four. Karlee Halcomb led the Panthers in serving with six aces. Miah Wren led in digs with 26 and Kristiana Terry had 21. Overall the Panthers played very well.

The Panthers traveled to Baggs, Wyoming, on Oct. 16 to play against Little Snake River. The JV team won in two sets, 25-10 and 25-18. Wagner led the team in kills with four, Wren and LeBleu each had three. Wagner also led in blocks with three solo blocks. Terry had four aces and 11 digs and Wren and Angalina Peck both had three aces. The team passed very well and had great passing and serving overall. 

The lady Panthers hosted West Grand on Friday. Unfortunately, the Panther lost in four sets. The girls played well but were not able to outlast the Mustangs. Leading offensively for the Panthers was were Kyrah Phelps, Ashlynn Ducey and Miley Chism with six kills apiece, and Kaitlyn Cox earning 11 points behind the service line. Defensively, the Panthers were led by Aspen Low with 15 blocks with LeBleu adding in four blocks, and Adelynn Halcomb led with 24 digs with Kyrah Phelps digging the ball 16 times.  

In Baggs, the varsity Panthers came out on top after four sets. Kaitlyn Cox did a good job spreading the ball around offensively and ended the match with 32 assists. Leading the Panthers in kills were Low with 11, Phelps with eight and Annika Cantrell with seven. Chism led the Panthers behind the service line with 14 earned points. Cantrell led defensively with eight blocks and Adelynn Halcomb led with 45 digs, with Kyrah Phelps adding in 24 digs.   

The Panthers continue to grow each week and trying to find consistency. The Panthers have a busy week ahead, traveling to Rifle on Thursday, to Vail Christian on Friday and hosting Vail Mountain on Saturday.
