RANGELY I The Rangely High School cross country team ran their last regular season meet on Wednesday, Oct. 13, in Rifle, Colorado. The course was a 5K (3.1 miles) on the front nine of the golf course. It is known to be a fast and pretty flat course. The Panthers were missing several runners but they were able to make a great showing.
Senior Mary Scoggins was the lone runner for the girls. She had another great race and is running strong. She took fifth overall and had a new personal best of 20:15. She is hoping to go under 20 this next week at the regional meet.
Andrew Dorris, decided to follow Mary’s lead and took fifth overall also. He was just a couple of seconds off his personal best, his time was 17:33 for this week. Colton Noel, our second runner, went out and beat several runners that had been ahead of him throughout the season, his time was 19:24 and he took 20th place. Kevin Wren has been running well this season, was able to run a 20:02 and took 27th place. Freshman James Talbot was the fourth runner on the team with a 20:26 taking 29th place. Anthony Dorris was right on his heels with a time of 20:27 and 30th place both of the boys had a personal best. With a time of 21:22 and coming in with 41st place was Fisher Winder. Joseph Adams had a 22:10, respectively and Justin Allred ran a 22:51.
Rangely will be hosting the regional cross country 2A region 4 meet in Delta, Colorado, on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021. This meet determines who will be going to state. The 15 top individuals will go and the top five teams. The Rangely Panthers are looking forward to the meet, they have some big goals.
“This is what we have been preparing for all season. All the athletes have worked hard and it is paying off,” said coach Beth Scoggins.
