MEEKER | Come see the beautiful quilts of 2024 at the annual quilt show. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular attendee, this year’s show features approximately 100 quilts that have not been previously displayed.
Visitor hours are Friday, Sept. 6, from noon to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fairfield Center, 200 Main St. The $4 entry fee supports scholarships and grants for local women pursuing advanced education.
While most of the quilts are made by residents of northwest Colorado, this year’s show also includes entries from Denver.
The show brings back memories of grandmothers, aunts, and mothers, with heritage quilts on display, as well as contemporary designs featuring unique colors created by current quilters.
Each year, a new set of quilts is presented, showcasing the dedication of quilters. Collectors and those who have inherited quilts also loan their works for the show, offering a blend of newly created and vintage pieces, some passed down through families for generations.
While the quilts are on display only, visitors can enter a drawing for the Opportunity Quilt, which is made especially for this event.
Homemade baked goods will also be available for purchase, so don’t miss the chance to take home some of Meeker’s finest local treats.
All funds raised go toward supporting local young women in furthering their post-high school education, with several scholarships awarded annually for students attending technical schools and colleges.
The quilt show is sponsored annually by the local P.E.O. chapter. Established in 1919, Meeker’s P.E.O. Chapter BA continues a long tradition of sisterhood, community support, and educational contributions. P.E.O. is a state, national, and international organization that supports women and funds philanthropic endeavors.
