New owners for RBC funeral homes
The funeral homes in Rio Blanco County have new owners. Mitchell (Mitch) and Ty Ann Blackburn have purchased Rio Blanco County Funeral Homes from Joseph and Teresa Swiger.
Public hearing for church continued
The public hearing regarding moving the historic Methodist church building to Ute Park, which requires a revision of the Ute Park master plan by ordinance, was continued until Tuesday, May 24.

Final chance to qualify for state track
This year, in order to qualify for the Colorado State Track and Field Championships, an athlete must post a time or distance in the top 18 in the state as there is no longer a regional meet where the top three times/distances qualify.
Public hearing on church May 17
A public hearing at Meeker Town Hall is scheduled for May 17 to discuss temporarily moving the century-old Methodist Church to the west end of Park Street until a permanent foundation in Ute Park can be built.

History Day is a national history competition for both middle and high school students and last week, several Barone Middle School students participated in the annual event.
Precision awarded bridge bid
Precision Excavating of Hayden was awarded a $794,677 bid to replace a bridge by the Rio Blanco County commissioners. The commissioners also awarded another bid for a trailer, entered two agreements and heard reports from department heads.

Maybe 15 or 20 years ago, I remember a brochure distributed by the Meeker Chamber of Commerce with the tag line “Colorado’s Best Kept Secret.” Unfortunately (or some might argue fortunately), try as we might to get the word out, Meeker still might be Colorado’s best kept secret.
