Approximately 25 members of the Rio Blanco County Historical Society attended the group’s annual meeting Sunday at Richards Hall at St. James Episcopal Church in Meeker to review the last year, discuss projects for 2015 and to elect officers for the next year.

County officials to be sworn in to office Tuesday morning
RBC I A new slate of elected Rio Blanco County officials will be sworn into office Tuesday, marking the end of county service by two long-standing officials who both stepped down at the end of their current terms.
Elk enjoy good weather…
Wildlife was out enjoying the weather on Saturday east of Meeker. It was one of the few sunny days to be taken in recently. It seems that these seven elk and two turkeys, far left, didn’t mind each other’s company about 10 miles up County Road 8.
From My Window… Skiing requires money tree; museum impresses; sports return
I just looked out my window and you know what I didn’t see? Not in any direction did I see a single tree with money growing from the branches. I didn’t notice any bills hanging from the trees during the summer, either. But someone must know where they are.
Unemployment rate in Rio Blanco County up to 3 percent in Nov.
RBC I The unseasonably adjusted unemployment rate inched up half a percent during November in Rio Blanco County. The increase was the first in the past 12 months, following a low of 2.5 percent in October.

Merry Christmas to you all! If having snow fall on Christmas Day constitutes a white Christmas, today may not be a white Christmas, but there is a darned good chance there is going to be a whole lot of white snow on the ground for us to enjoy.
From My Window… Dad a good shot with gift; newspaper deadlines change
Out my window as I write this, it really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The cool temperatures, the lights on people’s homes and businesses and along the streets as well as people seeing their breath when exhaling in early morning are signs that Christmas is getting close.
