The peak has passed for Rio Blanco County color-changed leaves with the frost and snow the past two weeks. Shot just south of Meeker the day before the snow fell, this small group of aspen was spotted along Highway 13, south of the intersection with Highway 64 toward Rifle.

RBC I Election day on Tuesday brought good news to the Rio Blanco County voters in many respects, but not all votes went the way the supporters wanted.

Meeker residents woke up to about 1.5 inches of snow on the ground Monday, the first measurable snowfall of the season. Although this snow arrived later than usual, forecasts call for a cold and snowy winter ahead.
