Hunters warned of tularemia risks

RBC I October is the beginning of small game hunting season in Colorado, and as the number of human tularemia cases in our state continues to rise, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reminds small game hunters to “hunt healthy” this year.

After a good soaking much of the day on the last Sunday of the summer, the clouds parted enough late in the day to allow this rainbow to form over Rangely. It rained again that evening and on Monday to make for some good precipitation as autumn officially began.

State warns of rabies in skunks

RBC I Although 2014 numbers won’t be complete until year’s end, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment data show the number of confirmed animal rabies cases has declined from an average of 187 cases in 2012 and 2013 to 107 cases thus far in 2014.

RBC I Rio Blanco County voters will be asked to cast a vote on a ballot question 1A in the November election. Adoption by voters is pivotal to the success of future RBC broadband implementation and subsequent economic development.

JML Outfitters packed out this bull elk, shot with a bow and arrow by Craig Stanke of St. Louis, Mo., within this past week. Marie Haskett of JML Outfitters in Meeker said this was the biggest bull she has ever seen coming out of the Flat Tops.
