MEEKER I Jeff Hemingson, the new music director for Barone Middle School and Meeker High School, made his debut at the winter music concert at the MHS auditorium on Dec. 17 with a performance of challenging and intriguing compositions.
State doing away with ‘Wildlife Zones,’ reduced night speeds
RBC I House Bill 10-1238 directed the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) to establish highway Wildlife Zones where there is an increased presence of wildlife near the roadway, with signage that doubles fines for all traffic infractions within the zones.

Several members of the Meeker Cub Scouts took part in the annual Meeker Parade Of Lights as well as the lighting of the Town of Meeker Christmas trees, Christmas carols by the Meeker Elementary School Choir and fireworks.
CNCC horse team wraps up first half of season with test at Utah State
RBC I Colorado Northwestern Community College equine studies instructor and horse show coach Stacey Bailey released the results of the team’s last competition before the holiday break, describing the event as a bit “rocky.”
Ken Coffin named 2014 ‘Lion of the Year’
MEEKER I The Meeker Lions Club presented awards at its annual Christmas party in early December. Mark Rogers and Bill Jordan received awards for their outstanding service to the club and Ken Coffin was recognized as “Lion of the Year” for 2014.

NW Colorado gets on-the-job-training funds
RBC I Northwest Workforce Centers announced last week that plans are in place to ramp up outreach efforts to notify out-of-work job seekers and employers about on-the-job training, including in Rio Blanco County.
