\MEEKER — The Meeker High School varsity football team opened the season in grand form last Friday night with a convincing 34-14 victory over the hometown Basalt Longhorns.

Weather helps stop Jordan Fire

MEEKER — Rain, clouds, lower temperatures and higher humidity over the Jordan Fire has effectively stopped fire spread as of Aug. 31. The fire is located seven miles northwest of Meeker in the Windy Gulch Wilderness Study Area.

Meeker resident remains in ICU

\MEEKER — Meeker resident Tom Titus sustained serious injuries from a motorcycle accident Saturday, Aug. 23. Titus was flown to Denver where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit.

CNCC computer classes available

MEEKER — There is still time to register for CNCC fall computer and QuickBooks classes. Beginning QuickBooks workshops will be offered on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 13 and 20 with a more advanced version offered on Oct. 11 and 18.
