MEEKER | Barone Middle School teams played Rangely on Jan. 6, 2023, their first games of the new year.
The 8B team lost by three points, 10-13, a much closer game than the first meeting played before the winter break. The top scorer was Taylor Bain with six and Ximena Lopez-Rodriguez and Olivia Griffiths followed with two points each. The 8A team also lost by three points, 20-23, and again these games were also much closer than the first meeting. Kayla Castillo led with seven points, Lilly Hernanez-Pena followed with six, Keelan Dade with five, and Ruth Leblanc with 2.
The 7B team lost 16-2.
“They showed great hustle and potential on both sides of the court,” commented head coach Claudia Bullen, “with Peyton Arnold getting us on the board.”
7A won by two points, 8-6.
“Our lead scorer was Berkli Harvey with four points, followed by Jayci Chintala with two, Sienna Rollen with two, and Peyton Arnold with two.”
This week BMS girls basketball has two home games. Friday at 10 a.m. taking on Soroco and then Saturday at 9 a.m. against Craig.
