On Saturday, Sept. 3 the middle school runners traveled to Kremmling for their first meet of the season. The course was a two-mile out-and-back on local trails. Only five Cowboys were able to compete this weekend due to injuries and prior commitments. It was the first cross-country competition for each of these five seventh graders.
“They all did incredibly well and placed second overall as a team where 24 boys competed in the race,” commented head coach Kris Casey
Times for the Baron Middle School runners were:
- Ashton Tapia placed fifth with a time of 15 minutes 43.50 seconds
- Dexter Chinn placed 13th with a time of 18:20.50
- Hoyt Garcia placed 14th with a time of 18:46.50
- Jonan VonRoenn placed 17th with a time of 20:34.50
- Ryan Hanberg placed 19th with a time of 21:03.90
“This week will be a busy week for our runners,” wrapped up Casey. “They were in Steamboat on Monday and Tuesday, then on Friday to New Castle.”
