MEEKER | With the season winding down for Barone Middle School cross country runners, they had a busy week full of great races.
The team was in Steamboat on Wednesday and in Craig on Saturday. Wednesday’s meet was on a new course near the Sleeping Giant School. The race was roughly 2.5 miles with some rolling hills.
“Our boys ran competitively and Ashton had a great finish to secure the fifth-place position,” commented head coach Kris Casey.
Unfortunately, coach Casey has not received times for this event from Steamboat.
On Saturday the team traveled with the high school team to Loudy-Simpson Park in Craig. The middle school race consisted of trails and grass for a 2.25 mile course.
“Our team ran well and placed third overall,” said Casey.
Tapia led the team placing ninth with a time of 14 minutes 31.8 seconds and he was followed by Bradley Conrado at 16th in a time of 15:24.6. Ryan Hanberg took 22nd in 16:27 and Landon Damitz was not far behind in 26th place with a time of 16:47. The Cowboys next group of runners were Hoyt Garcia (46), Troy Browning (47), Jackson Steele (48), Dexter Chinn (50), and Lucas Robinson (53). Talen Walker finished his second race for the season in 58th place and Asa Scofield completed our team in 60th place.
The team will be traveling to Delta next Friday to complete their season.
