Walker graduated with honors

MEEKER I Caitlin Walker, 20, of Meeker, was graduated summa cum laude with an associate’s degree in early childhood education from Colorado Northwestern Community College in May 2011.

“Bright Colorado” will help education

MEEKER I A coalition committed to public education is making a statewide effort to get an initiative called “Bright Colorado” on this fall’s ballot. The measure is designed to prevent further cuts to primary, secondary and higher education.

Schindler, Dunbar are tough mudders

MEEKER I Trenton Schindler and Kurtis Dunbar of Meeker competed in the Colorado “Tough Mudder” competition in Beaver Creek on June 25-26. The pair finished the course in less than three hours.

Kids’ events add to rodeo fun

MEEKER I Don’t miss the Ranch Rodeo and Calcutta, which start at 2 p.m. Monday, July 4, at the fairgrounds. Local ranches — some of which have been around as long as Range Call itself — compete in events taken from daily ranch life, like trailer loading.

Run for Your Life 2011

MEEKER |  Since 1979, locals and visitors alike have gathered in the early morning hours on July 4 for another kind of parade — the Run for Your Life 5K walk/run. In the last 30-plus years the annual race has grown to encompass hundreds of participants from all age groups.
