No opponent means no game, but a win for MHS

MEEKER I The Cowboys won a game without even suiting up. And it was against a school that apparently is no longer, well, a school. Meeker called off its game last Friday against New Direction Academy of Aurora after repeated attempts to contact the online school proved unsuccessful.

In case you didn’t catch it in last week’s paper, it is no longer politically correct (and we are all about being politically correct, if you believe some of our letters to the editor), to refer to Meeker’s claim to historic fame as the “Meeker Massacre.”

Long-time Rangely superintendent to get memorial

Books were a big part of Bob Mullen’s life, both professionally and personally. So, it’s only fitting that a sculpture — in Mullen’s memory — will be installed in front of the Rangely Regional Library.

Wix trial set for early 2010

MEEKER I John Wix will have his day in court. A trial date was set Friday for March 1-4, 2010, and running through March 8-9, if needed.

Loose Ends: Communication breakdown

“Sometimes when you’re here, you’re not really here,” is a common complaint from today’s children. Children from all levels of the economic spectrum seem to say this to their parents once in a while. It should strike a chord for every parent or grandparent.
