Letter: ‘Meeker Incident’ waters down history

Sometimes the words “politically correct” can mislead people. To be “politically correct” about calling the Meeker Massacre the Meeker Incident is a very good example. There have been suggestions in the paper that the people of Meeker should change the name.

MEEKER | Roy and Lee Light of Meeker are this week’s “home of” honorees. The Lights moved here in July 2008, from Loyalton, Calif., which is “right on the eastern border of California.” They have been married 36 years.

Meeker man charged with illegal hunting

RBC I A Meeker man could face more than $12,000 in fines because of alleged hunting violations. The Colorado Division of Wildlife is continuing its investigation of Kenneth Coughlin, 53, who was issued a summons for illegal possession, hunting in a closed area and a “Samson” surcharge.
