Highway project curbed
MEEKER — In a sign of the times, the town’s curb and gutter project on Highway 13 is on hold, due to uncertainty about the economy. At a special meeting Nov. 24, members of the town board opted to delay the road project.
New board member Gerloff has a 30-year commitment
MEEKER — Just because he is the newest member of the Meeker Town Board doesn’t mean he is a newcomer. Rod Gerloff, who was sworn in Wednesday night, has been around since the late 1970s, when his family moved here from Texas during the oil shale boom.

Chamber adds 40 new members
MEEKER — Forty new members have joined the Meeker Chamber of Commerce in 2008.

Winter programs begin Dec. 9
MEEKER — Meeker winter music programs are Tuesday, Dec. 9 for the Meeker Elementary first, second and third grades. Dress rehearsal is 1:30 p.m., and the evening performance 6:30 p.m. On Wednesday, Dec. 10, the fourth, fifth and sixth grade choirs perform at 7 p.m.
WREA rates to rise 3.17 percent on Jan.1
MEEKER — As temperatures go down, White River Electric Association customers’ rates will go up. WREA announced a 3.17 percent rate increase in a recent mailing to customers. The new rate takes effect Jan. 1.
