The Rio Blanco County middle school boys’ basketball teams met in Meeker last week for their second meeting this season and have one more week before the league tournament in two weeks.
MHS ends season district champs
MEEKER I After a three year absence from the regional volleyball tournament, the Meeker volleyball team qualified for post-season play as district champions but did not advance to the state tournament. Meeker finished third behind the champion team from Mancos and runner-up Telluride team.
MHS wins district tourney
MEEKER I “We started our journey at 5:30 a.m. on the bus and returned home at 11:30 p.m.,” Meeker High School volleyball coach Christy Atwood said about the district tournament held last Saturday in Oak Creek. Coach Atwood wasn’t complaining, since they returned as district champions.
