Rangely High School graduate Tobie Gasper encouraged to run for home base by head coach Paul Fortunato after hitting a home run, was selected to play in the 1A-2A all-state baseball game. The all-state game will be played June 2 at Machebeuf High School in Denver, beginning at 2 p.m.

The 2013 Colorado 6/8-man all-state football game will take place May 31 at La Junta High School’s Tiger Stadium. Rangely’s Chas Byerly was nominated by league coaches and selected to play in the game showcasing Colorado seniors.

Brown, Collins win 2-man scramble
MEEKER I Local veteran golfers Erik Brown and Lex Collins defended their home course winning the annual 27-hole, two-man scramble at the Meeker Golf Course on Saturday. The tournament featured two flights and 19 pairs.

RBC sends 20 to state championship
RBC I Twenty Rio Blanco County track and field athletes (13 from Meeker and seven from Rangely) competed at the 2013 Colorado State Track and Field Championships at Jefferson County Stadium in Denver, and nine received medals on the podium, including one champion.
