RANGELY I Just like during volleyball, the Northwest League’s girls’ basketball season is expected to be a toss-up. Rangely was in the thick of things during volleyball, and the Lady Panthers hope to compete for the title in basketball as well.

MEEKER I Barone Middle School’s seventh-grade A team won Saturday 30-18, outscoring the visiting team in every quarter. “We were very successful with our full-court press,” said coach Ben Anderson. “The other team got wore out quickly.”
Barone wins county rematch
RBC I In a rematch of county teams, Meeker’s Barone Middle School boys’ basketball teams prevailed. In the eighth-grade games last Thursday, Meeker’s A team won 28-23 with Jake Boesch scoring 10 points and Dylan Mobley eight. Rangely’s Conner Phelan led all scorers with 13 points.

MEEKER I The field was snowpacked, the temperature freezing at kickoff and it was snowing lightly in Starbuck Stadium last Saturday for the quarterfinal round of the Colorado 1A state football playoffs between the hometown Meeker Cowboys and the visiting Yuma Indians.
