Celebrate community and heritage at the 112th annual Pioneers Association Dinner and Dance

MEEKER | Not many parties last 112 years, but this one has. Beginning in 1912, the Rio Blanco County Pioneers Association, previously known as the Old Timers dinner and reunion, is an event to celebrate family, friends and community. This year it is scheduled for Aug. 10, and everyone is welcome. The event offers an evening of fun, friendship, and an opportunity to embrace the pioneering history of our county. Prizes will be awarded for the youngest and oldest attendees, and the “Spirit of a Pioneer” award will honor three deserving community members.

We are fortunate in our community and county to have traditions like this that have truly stood the test of time and represent what makes Rio Blanco County unique because roots run deep. This event now welcomes everyone to come and be a part of the ‘small-town family’ we are so proud of.

For 112 years, presidents or co-presidents have overseen the event for one year before selecting the next. Over the years, celebrations have highlighted agriculture, pride in a brand, and demonstrations of expertise in various areas.

This is a special celebration because few communities retain the history and connections that have been foundational to our county. We are blessed to live in a community where everyone knows each other and waves when passing, where neighborly help is a call away, and where the community rallies together in times of need.

In other places, residents may not know their neighbors, let alone the community’s history. In Rio Blanco County, we are fortunate, and it is time to gather and share all that has made this county incredible, with old-timers and newcomers alike.
