Changes coming to local parks management

PRESS RELEASE

MEEKER | ERBM Recreation & Park District (ERBM) would like to inform the community of upcoming changes to the maintenance and management of several parks following the conclusion of the current parks lease agreement between the Town of Meeker and ERBM.

Town Properties

Beginning June 1, the Town of Meeker will resume maintenance responsibilities for Town-owned properties. This includes Town Park, Circle Park, Sanderson Hills Park, 6th Street Field, Sage Hills Park, McHatton Park, and Foothills Park. ERBM will continue to provide modified services at these locations through May 31, prioritizing safety, cleanliness, and essential maintenance. Here’s what to expect during this time:

• Year-round restrooms at Town Park, Circle Park, and Sanderson Hills Park will remain open unless temporary closures are required for maintenance.

• Snow removal within Town-owned parks will consist of parking lots and primary paths leading to restrooms.

• Pavilions at Town Park, Circle Park, and Sanderson Hills Park will follow a first-come, first-served model (no reservations through ERBM).

• RV and camping sites at Town-owned parks will remain open under existing capacity limits and policies per posted signage.

• Pocket parks (Foothills, 6th Street, Sage Hills, and McHatton) will continue to be monitored for trash removal and hazard mitigation.

ERBM Properties

• ERBM-owned properties include Paintbrush Park, Paintbrush Park Ballfields, and Phillip & Dorcas Jensen Memorial Park. These locations will continue to receive regularly-scheduled care and maintenance with no change to existing services or availability.

Pavilion Reservations

• Paintbrush Park Pavilion is available to reserve for birthdays, gatherings, and special events. Call 970-878-3403 or visit erbmrec.com/parks#pavilions to submit a reservation request.

Ballfield Usage

• During warmer months, Paintbrush Park ballfields can be reserved for community use. To check field status and availability, call 970-878-3403.

Trail Maintenance

• ERBM will continue to collaborate with various community partners to maintain and improve Phillip & Dorcas Jensen Memorial Park and the Meeker trail system. Trail descriptions and maps can be found at erbmrec.com/trails.

ERBM remains fully committed to supporting safe, accessible, and well-maintained outdoor spaces for our community. Additional updates will be shared as the transition date approaches.
