RANGELY I Leaving at 5:30 a.m. to run a cross country race at an elevation of nearly 8,000 feet on a snowy fall morning in Aspen, Colo., may not be for everyone but it’s exactly what two daring Rangely junior high athletes did this past Saturday. Tackling the mountains of Aspen, eighth-grader Chris Hogan raced to an eighth place finish in 13 minutes, 58 seconds. Sixth-grader Patrick Scoggins ran the snowy course in a time of 15:24 to finish in 16th place. In their first year of running, Hogan and Scoggins are paving the way for great things to come. Aspen was the last race of the year for the runners.
