CALL SUMMARIES

2/12/2023 @ 2:40 pm. A caller reported a bald eagle that was off to the side of the highway near the 31 mile-marker of Highway 13. A deputy went to check on the bald eagle and it appeared to be okay. The bird flew off when the deputy arrived on scene.

2/12/2023 at 8:04 pm. A caller that was traveling on Highway 13 called into Rio Blanco County Communications Center regarding a dog that appeared to have been shot and was trying to stay warm in a bathroom at the rest stop. Officers responded and it appeared the dog just had sores from licking and had not been shot. The dog was also starved and dehydrated. The Catahoula was given a courtesy transport to the veterinarian and was also provided food, water and shelter. He is available for adoption, but isn’t too fond of cats! Please call Laurel with Town of Meeker Animal Control at 970-756-4762 for adoption information.

2/12/2023 @ 8:41 pm. A verbal domestic dispute was reported. Deputies responded and determined there was no crime. The parties agreed to stay in separate rooms until they could get along.

2/13/2023 @ 1/21 pm. A traffic complaint was called into the Communications Center for a white older model Mercury Sable that was unable to maintain their lane around the 23 mile-marker of Highway 13. A deputy did locate a vehicle matching the description and followed it for several miles. The deputy did not observe any unlawful driving behaviors so therefore did not contact the driver.

2/15/2023 @ 11:54 am. A slide off with no injures was reported near the 8 mile-marker on Highway 64. A deputy responded to assist and learned that one of the occupants was being driven to the hospital to be admitted. The deputy called for an ambulance to come help get the patient to the hospital safely.

2/17/2023 @ 1:06 pm. A single vehicle, non-injury rollover accident, occurred at approximately the 37 mile-marker on Highway 64. The highway had to be shut down for a short amount of time for the removal of the vehicle.

2/18/2023 @ 1:42 pm. A 911 misdial turned into an arrest after a male party that had accidentally called 911 was arrested for violation of a protection order due to being intoxicated, which was one of the stipulations for the order.
