MEEKER | It’s been a tough year for Cowboy softball. Currently 3-16, with only three games left before the beginning of post-season, they were looking to last weekend to boost the numbers. Traveling to Delta in a varsity doubleheader against the Panthers, both games played out similar. In the first game, the Panthers took the early lead but with a no-score second inning and the Cowboys rallying in the third, Meeker pulled ahead 7-3. Meeker stayed ahead until the bottom of the seventh when the Panthers put up five runs for the win, 8-9.
The second game the Cowboys had a strong third inning, only to ultimately allow nine runs in the sixth. The final score was 9-12 the Panthers and the Cowboys were 0-2 for the weekend.
Tuesday evening the Cowboys hosted Eagle for a single varsity match. Scores were not yet available as of press time.
Saturday they get to host another game and the Cedaredge Bruins, games will begin at 11 a.m. at Ute Park ball fields.
