Miley Chism was a dual force in the Aspen game. Defensively she took to the mound in both games getting two strikeouts. At bat she scored six runs and have four RBI’s.
MEEKER | The Meeker Cowboys softball team traveled to Aspen on homecoming Saturday for a doubleheader after the home game scheduled for Thursday was canceled. The Cowboys secured two solid wins in Aspen by scoring 25 runs in the first game and 18 in the second game.
In the first game, sophomore Addie Knowles pitched the first two innings with four strikeouts while junior Miley Chism pitched the third and final inning and struck out one.
Offensively Miley Chism was the spark plug with two hits and three RBIs. Ashlynn Ducey, Jade Miller, Autumn Stallings, and Addie Knowles all had multiple RBIs in the first game as well.
The Cowboys started the second game strong with Knowles in the circle again, going two innings with another four strikeouts. Chism finished game two in the third inning getting two strikeouts.
Ryann Mergelman led the way in game two with two hits, including a well hit double. Ducey stepped up again and helped her team solidify the win after hitting in three runs in the game. Miller, Miah Wren and Stallings each had two RBIs of their own throughout game two.
“We hope to continue the winning streak into the last week of the regular season as we host Battle Mountain on Tuesday,” commented head coach Kendal Bergman.
Tuesday varsity will begin at 4 p.m. and JV at 6 p.m., and the Cowboys will host Cedaredge on Saturday for a varsity doubleheader at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
