MEEKER | The Cowboys allowed just one set to go the Dragon’s way before charging back to win their one and only game of the week 3-1. “We have had an issue with starts to matches this year and we started well against Debeque which is a great sign,” began head coach Greg Cravens about its play last Friday. “We need to work on how we go into set three.” Meeker won the first two sets but needed to come into set three with a little more determination.
“The win was good for our souls,” commented Cravens. The team bounced back in set four to close the match with a dominating 25-5 performance. “Debeque has Vines and Rigsby, who are very good athletes and we feel lucky we were able to walk away with a win,” said Cravens. The Cowboys are preparing for a challenging weekend ahead. Vail Christian was last year’s league champions and are loaded in the setter position.
“We need to be at our best against Vail to pull off a ‘W,’” commented Cravens. The Cowboys come home on Saturday against Soroco, a team they saw a few times over the summer.
