MEEKER | Another win in the books for Cowboy volleyball and a move up in the rankings.
“What a great week,” commented head coach Greg Cravens. “We only had one match and got the girls some rest.”
The Cowboys got it done in three: 25-12, 25-12, and 25-13.
Reese Clatterbaugh and Ainsley Selle led the charge with a combined 21 kills assisted by Ellie Hossac who had 28 assists. Clatterbaugh added another three aces.
“The West Grand match ended up being interesting for us because Shyana and Graycee were sick and didn’t even travel with us,” said Cravens. “This just gave some opportunities to some other kids.”
Jacey Follman found herself going in for Natalie Kracht in the back row and even set the third set. In her first varsity match of the season she finished with six digs and four assists.
“She did great,” commented Cravens. “We also got playing time for everyone on the bench.” The Cowboys have been working on taking care of their side of the court in practice and West Grand was a good challenge.
“We are error prone and need to work on doing things the right way every time the ball comes over the net,” said Cravens.
Defensively, Taylor Garcia had 20 digs and received 15 serves, Selle 14 digs and took 11 serves, and Braydin Rayly 10 digs.
“I’m very proud of how all the girls performed in our match,” said Cravens.
The Cowboys have one match this week with North Park coming in on Friday. Things are different this week as it is their pink out night recognizing the battle against breast cancer. The varsity match will be played the first match at 5 p.m.
Senior night will be the following Tuesday vs. Vail Mountain.
C and D teams go to a tournament in Grand Junction on Saturday.
