MEEKER | Meeker Cowboy Track continued its season with another meet in Grand Junction, the Frank Woodburn Invitational. The meet went on despite the blustery winds, low temps and snow.
“It was cold-cold!” said head coach Hallie Blunt. “I was proud of the kids for sticking with it and trying. Taylor Garcia and Ellie Hossack both ran gutsy 400-meter runs in the snow.”
The kids were diversified in their placing on the track and in the field events. Judd Harvey led with a second-place finish in shot put with a personal record of 48 feet with snow falling as he threw.
“Both Dawson Willey and Harvey set new personal records this week in shot put,” said Blunt.
The Selle girls, Ainsley and Adi took home a pair of third place finishes. Ainsley ran her 200-meter run in 28.64 seconds and Adi ran her 300-meter hurdles in 54.13 seconds.
“This was Adi’s first attempt at running the 300 hurdles and it will only go up from here,” commented Blunt.
Rylee Sullivan placed sixth with a high jump height of four feet eight inches and Reese Clatterbaugh placed sixth in triple jump with a distance of 30 feet 4.5 inches. Both Sullivan and Clatterbaugh made the finals in the triple jump.
“We are hoping this week will be better weather and try to improve in some areas and get ready for our meet in Glenwood Springs this coming weekend,” said Blunt.
