Cowboys fall to Cedaredge

MEEKER | The Meeker High School baseball team was originally scheduled to host Cedaredge at Paintbrush Park last Saturday. However, due to inclement weather, the game was moved to Cedaredge, where the Cowboys faced the Bruins on the road.

The last time the two teams met was in April 2024, when Meeker swept the Bruins with 9–3 and 14–4 wins. This time, however, it was the Cowboys who came up short, falling 6–3 to Cedaredge. The loss marked Meeker’s seventh straight defeat, a skid that dates back to last season.

Heading into Saturday’s matchup, Cedaredge held a 2–7 record in their last nine games against Meeker. Junior Rylan Brooks led the charge for the Bruins, going 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, a run scored, a stolen base, and several key plays that challenged the Cowboys’ defense.

The loss dropped Meeker’s record to 0–6 on the 2025 baseball season.

Earlier in the week, the Cowboys hosted the Grand Valley Cardinals, who came into Tuesday afternoon’s contest with a 2–9 record. Looking ahead, Meeker will hit the road again this Friday as they travel to Hotchkiss to take on the North Fork Miners. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
