MEEKER | The Cowboys wrapped up the weekend 1-1, falling to Plateau Valley on Friday, but gaining one in the “W” column at Vail Mountain on Saturday. They now have an overall record of 5-8 and are 3-4 on the league.
Ryan Phelan and Cole Rogers scored a combined 21 points against Plateau Valley, both in the double digits, they also led the team in rebounds. A final score of 54-38, Plateau Valley, the Meeker Cowboys were outscored in the first three quarters.
Traveling to Vail on Saturday, Stephen Walsh had a stellar performance, putting up 22 points and shooting with 67 percent accuracy. Phelan and Rogers maintained reliability, scoring 13 and 14 points respectively; while Rogers continues to sink the three pointers, Phelan is excellent at pulling down the rebounds. A final score of 86-46, the 40 point victory was also the highest scoring game this year for the Cowboys
“We played well at Vail,” said head coach Klark Kindler, “hopefully we have turned the corner on some of our offensive problems.”
There are six games left in the regular season, this weekend the Cowboys will host Rangely on Friday, and be on the road to Granby to take on West Grand Saturday.
