MEEKER I The Rifle Creek Golf Course was once again the venue for the Rifle Invitational cross country meet on Wednesday, Oct.13. Meeker’s Brighton Bair had a good start in the girls race, and stayed with the front runners, placing 10th out of 59, in 21:26. The boys race also had good showings for the Cowboys, with Gabe Richardson palacing 16th, and a new personal record of 19:07. Eddie Drussell was Meeker’s second finisher, in 20:04 for 28th place. Gage Richardson was a few places behind at 32nd, and achieved a new PR of 20:35 this week. Wyatt Rollins and Gabe Smithers finished with only 1/10th of a second between them, 20:52.40 and 20:52.50, 37th and 38th places. Owen Hannemann took 44th place, with a time of 21:41. The boys placed sixth as a team. The Cowboys will be competing in the regional meet at Confluence Park in Delta on Friday, with races starting at noon.
“It was a bit chilly during the races, but our kids ran well. Perhaps the temperatures were a bit of extra motivation!” said head coach Marty Casey.
