Boys wins 57-50, Lady Cowboys drop one 62-46
MEEKER I Cowboys basketball had a slow week with only one game, due to rescheduling by Plateau Valley, but ended the week with an improving record of 4-3. Thursday they took on 3A Grand Valley Cardinals. The Cowboys came out with an early lead 28-21 at the half and never let it go.
“We played well,” began head coach Klark Kindler, “we handled their press and got good looks; we built a lead and answered every run they threw at us.”
Final score was 57-50 led by Liam Deming with 17 points, Zagar Brown had 14, and Zach Simonsen and Jace Mobley each had 11.
This week is big with three games Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and two league matches. At home for two nights against Little Snake on Thursday and Soroco on Saturday, the team will travel to Caprock on Friday.
LADY COWBOYS
Lady Cowboys basketball played number five ranked 3A Grand Valley Cardinals.
“We knew it would be a tough game,” commented head coach Jamie Rogers. “They made a nine point run to start the first quarter and we couldn’t get out of the hole; the girls worked hard the entire game.”
Final score 62-46, Hailey Knowles led the team with 21 points and Sarah Kracht had 18.
The lady Cowboys are 4-3 and still remain undefeated in the league.
This weekend they play Wyoming’s Little Snake on Thursday at home, then Friday and Saturday they return to league play by traveling to Caprock Friday and hosting Soroco on Saturday.
