MEEKER I Meeker High School cross country ran in Delta at the regional meet on Friday, with the girls racing first. Brighton Bair finished in eighth place in 21:28, and Callie Stout finished in 28:28 and 63rd. Bair’s performance earned her a place at the state championship meet in Colorado Springs this Saturday, Oct. 30. State is held at the Norris Penrose Event Center, with the 2A girls running at 11 a.m.
The boys’ race had Gabe Richardson posting his career best time of 18:34, at 19th place. Wyatt Rollins ran a fantastic race as well, Meeker’s second runner to finish in 26th place at 19:09 — a new personal record for Rollins by more than 1:40. Eddie Drussell was the third Cowboy runner this week, with a 32nd place finish, and a new PR of 19:30. Owen Hannemann was the fourth and final team score contributor, in 20:33 and 44th. Gabe Smithers and Gage Richardson finished in 20:46 and 20:47 for 46th and 47th places, respectively. The boys scored seventh as a team.
“We saw some great effort at regionals, and some very good improvements. Brighton has been working hard, and is excited to run at state,” said head coach Marty Casey.
