MEEKER I Meeker High School cross country traveled to Craig on Saturday for the Moffat County Invitational, held at Loudy-Simpson Park. The girls raced first, and Brighton Bair placed 10th, in a time of 22:18. Callie Stout set a new personal record of 31:46, nearly four-and-a-half minutes faster than her previous best time, and 46th place. Gabe Richardson was the first Cowboy to finish in the boys race, 22nd place at 20:29. Gabe Smithers was three places behind, and 20:43. Eddie Drussell ran a great race, finishing in 29th place, and a new PR of 21:07. Owen Hannemann was a few places back, 33rd, at 21:29. Wyatt Rollins finished in 21:45 for 38th place, and Gage Richardson was 42nd at 22:40. The boys placed sixth as a team.
Meeker will be competing in Delta’s Pantherfest meet at Confluence Park on Friday, with races starting at 10 a.m.
BMS cross country runs in Craig

MEEKER I On Saturday, Sept. 25 the Barone Middle School cross country team competed at Loudy-Simpson Park in Craig. The first race of the day began with the girls, where both Dawn Arnold and Skylar Grimes improved from their previous race in Craig. Arnold had an amazing race and placed third, running a time of 18:33.6, crushing her previous race time by more than a minute. Grimes placed ninth with a time of 22:10.7. There were 17 runners in the girls’ middle school race.
The boys competed in a field of 13 runners. This week Brad Nielsen was the top runner for Barone Middle School, completing the course in 19:03.30 and placing sixth overall. Sam Smithers placed eighth in a time of 19:38.8. Cameron Hanberg also improved on his previous time on the Craig course and finished ninth with a time of 20:33.6.
The Cowboys will be competing this coming Saturday, Oct. 2 in Meeker. The races will begin at 8 a.m. by the football field and finish on the track before the middle school football games start. This will be their last competition for the season.
