MEEKER | The Meeker Cowboy basketball team went 1-1 this past weekend.
On Friday they hosted the Caprock Eagles, coming out strong in the first quarter they were up by 10 points, 22-12. Continuing to hit the baskets the entire game, the final score was 57-44. Elijah Deming led the team with 14 points, Spud White had 12 and Lane Anderson 11. White, also leading the team in rebounds, had seven defensive and Anderson had six.
Saturday at Vail Christian, the Cowboys were ahead after the first, but couldn’t hold the lead. They gave up 24 points in the second quarter and continued to lose ground the rest of the game. The final score was 57-70. Cole Rogers sank nearly half of those baskets with 22 points. White had 18.
This weekend will also have one home game and one away game. Friday the Cowboys will be in Debeque and Saturday they will host the Paonia Eagles with games to begin Saturday at 4 p.m.
