MEEKER I The Cowboys headed into post season wrestling last weekend and ended with sending 12 boys to the big show in Denver.
Wrestling this weekend were Zeek Gianninetti at 106 pounds, Bow Muxlow (113), Trae Kennedy (120), Clay Crawford (126), Ty Goedert (132), Abe Maupin (138), Jake Blazon (145), Connor Blunt (152), Cade Blunt (160), Kelton Turner (170), Brendan Clatterbaugh (182), Hayden Shutls (195), Judd Harvey (220), and Tanner Musser (HWT).
At the end of day one all of the Cowboys still had the ability to wrestle into state and as a team they were sitting in second place, only two points down, behind the number one ranked Centauri Falcons. Anyone placing in the top four of their weight class gets a ride downtown.
When the dust settled Meeker had 12 boys that qualified for state, three freshman Gianinetti, Crawford, and Cade, three sophomores Clatterbaugh, Shults, and Harvey, four juniors Kennedy, Maupin, Connor, and Musser, and two seniors Goedert and Turner. As a team they had placed just under Centauri and took regional runner-ups and had two regional champions Goedert and Harvey.
Wrestling begins Thursday at noon at Ball Arena with sessions specific to class 2A and 3A and continues through Saturday evening with finals beginning at 5:30 p.m.
