The 14-1 Meeker Cowboys have tied the longest win streak since the 2014-2015 season and are looking good to beat the best season in MaxPreps record. The win record also moved them up in CHSAA seeding and they finally broke the top 10.
The three-game weekend on the road didn’t stop them from amassing 234 points in the three games, more than 100 of which came from the 102-39 win over Olathe on Friday.
Jace Mobley is proving to be instrumental putting up big numbers including 31 on Thursday in the Cowboys’ 61-45 win over Little Snake, 21 points against Olathe, and 21 in the win over Roaring Fork. He can add 18 rebounds to his weekend’s stats and a stellar shooting percentage.
The Olathe game saw three Cowboys top 20 points, Mobley, JT Fitzgibbons and Ethan Quinn. Fitzgibbons leads the team in rebounds and field goal percentage and Mobley leads in points and steals. The team has a multifaceted attack from many players that diminishes the opponents’ defense effectiveness.
This weekend the Cowboys host two home games. On Friday Gunnison comes to town and Saturday Meeker hosts Cedaredge. In the previous matchups the Cowboys were missing Fitzgibbons and this weekend they are looking to stretch the lead even bigger than in the previous wins. Games on Friday begin at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m.
