MEEKER | The weather keeps getting better and the times keep improving right along with it. This week was a busy one with Friday at Coal Ridge and then Saturday at Rangely.
“Coal Ridge was a good meet for us I thought,” commented head coach Hallie Blunt. “Everything changes so much in the last few weeks but I am proud of our kids.”
The girls 4×100 team set yet another personal record and are once again second in the state. Ainsley Selle won the 100 meter run, Sam Hightower jumped 10 feet 11 inches in pole vault and Adi Knowles had a PR in pole vault, long jump and discus. Judd Harvey was second in shot put, had a big PR in discus, and made finals along with Tucker Chinn in long jump. Reese Clatterbaugh won the triple jump and is currently qualified with a 32 feet 7 inches. Cameron Hanberg and Skylar Grimes had PR’s in the mile run and 800 meter run and the girls 4×400 meter run had a huge PR and is qualified now with a 4 minute 24 second improving from a 4:41.
Saturday in Rangely Taylor Garcia, Jayde Turner and Brayden Raley ran the open 800. “I think these girls’ times would make a competitive 4×800 meter run team,” said Blunt, “and our 4×1 and 4×2 girls won and look strong.”
Currently in the state Ellie Hossack is sitting top 10 in the state in the 200 meter run, Selle is 18th in the 100, Harvey is qualified in shot and third in the state. Rylee Sullivan and Clatterbaugh are both qualified in triple jump, and finally Adi Selle in hurdles.
This Friday the Cowboys will compete in Craig.
