MEEKER | The Cowboys have a full schedule this week as they move into the final games of the regular season. They are 3-0 for league play and 6-2 overall.
Friday in Kremmling the team came out fast and strong, up ten points by the end of the first quarter, 13-3, and stretching that further by the half, 34-19, final score was 53-41.
Three Cowboys put up some big points, Liam Deming and Spud White, each with 16 and Ryan Phelan with 11. Phelan also led the team defensively with 11 defensive rebounds, 13 total, and five steals.
The Cowboys came out just as strong against the Tigers on Saturday, each quarter stretching the lead further for a final score of 67-41. White was top scorer with 12 points, and both Zagar Brown and Braydon Garcia had 11. Rebounding, Phelan ten, White nine, and Deming seven.
This week the team has games Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Tuesday’s game was a non-league game against the 3A Moffat County Bulldogs. At the half the Bulldogs had a 10 point lead, but by the end of regulation the teams were tied 48 all. In single overtime play the Cowboys were outscored 11-2 and unable to pull off the win, final score 59-50.
At this point in the season White is leading the team with 110 total points, this doesn’t include any points from Moffat County as those stats have yet to be entered. White is leading with 28 offensive rebounds and Phelan with 52 defensive rebounds.
Friday’s game against North Park will be boys varsity beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday the JV begins at 1 p.m., and boys varsity starts at 5:30 p.m.
