After spending the winter at San Diego, California, and vicinity, Sam Martin is home again much improved in health.
Glenwood is already in the field for an old-fashioned Fourth of July celebration.
Game Warden Goodell caused the arrest of Oscar Collins at Basalt a few days ago but was unable to make the case stick, the jury finding Collins not guilty.

The two girls from Meeker, Dorothy Hay and Lillian White who attended the State Spelling and Oratorical Contest made a good showing for the school. Miss Hay tied for fourth with a score of 99 and Miss White received third in the Oratorical Contest.
HG Johnson of Oakridge Park was a business visitor to town Saturday.
Mr. Edward Manaugh is home after a business trip to Wyoming. He drove through in his car.

For three days last week, 15 Meeker High School students were privileged to participate in the “Filmmaker in the Schools Project.” The project was co-sponsored by the Colorado Council for the Arts and Humanities, The National Foundation of the Arts, and Meeker School District.
In addition to those mentioned last week, Mrs. Robert Bivens and Mrs. Sally Smith of Craig were among those attending the LDS Primary Conference in Salt Lake City Tuesday thru Friday of last week.
Police ended a month-long investigation into the theft of an archery bow, during a burglary of Meeker High School, with the recovery of the bow and the apprehension of four high school boys. Charges against the boys are pending.

Avis Loshbaugh serves up a great cup of coffee at her new Coffee Shop in the Hugus Building on Sixth and Main in Meeker. Avis’ On the Corner, as her business is called, joins several other women-owned enterprises in the building, making the Hugus a hotbed of free enterprise in Meeker.
Tia McKee and Michael Shock had a ball at the Pee-Wee wrestling scrimmage in Meeker over the weekend. Well over a hundred kids participated in the Meeker event.
Weather sidelined the Meeker track team for a second week in a row. However, the long johns have been pulled from storage and if necessary worn under the tights at Glenwood this Saturday.

The Bible Baptist Junior class had an outing and skating party in Grand Junction last Saturday. Sponsors were Mrs. Ann Burch and Mrs. Jean Elder.

The 1999 Lady Panther tracksters return a very strong but small squad of returning letter winners for the spring season.
Tanya Romer, a sophomore at CNCC, recently received a scholarship to play basketball at Western Montana University. Romer was number one in rebounding in Region 18 during her career as a CNCC Lady Spartan.
The Beta Epsilon Tau chapter of Phi Theta Kappa on the CNCC Rangely campus held its induction ceremony on March 25. Twenty-eight new members were inducted into the chapter.
